Mary Kate Deacon, M.A.

Mary Kate Deacon, M.A., is a Masters Level Clinician and fifth-year Doctoral candidate at La Salle University’s Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology where she has focused coursework in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Mary Kate has spent the past 18+ months working on the Anxiety Clinic Team at La Salle University, which focuses on the provision of evidenced-based treatments, primarily CBT, for the treatment of OCD and an array of anxiety disorders. Prior to entering graduate school, Mary Kate worked with children and adolescents in an outpatient behavioral health treatment program. During her doctoral training, Mary Kate has gained experience providing individual therapy and group therapy in a partial hospitalization setting and college counseling center. Mary Kate also has specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a treatment modality that emphasizes mindfulness, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness skills.

 

Mary Kate is passionate about working with young adults and adolescents struggling with
anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and various eating disorders like orthorexia, ARFID and body image issues. She strives to create a comfortable and supportive environment through her warmth, empathy, and authenticity. Mary Kate takes a collaborative and strengths-based approach to treatment and aims to tailor therapy interventions to the individualized needs of the client. She is committed to helping individuals work through their fears/anxieties, achieve their personal life goals, and live a meaningful life.
