Dr. Josh McKinney

Dr. Josh McKinney is an Advanced Postdoctoral Fellow at the CBT Center for Anxiety and OCD. He earned his Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, and his Master’s degree in K-12 School Counseling at Slippery Rock University. He completed his APA Accredited Predoctoral Internship in Health Psychology at St. Agnes Hospital (SSM Health) in Wisconsin where he specialized in working with patients whose physical health concerns impacted their mental health. He is also trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He has experience working with patients with a variety of concerns including all manifestations of anxiety, panic, OCD and depression.  Josh has significant experience in providing successful treatment for pain management, sleep difficulties, and grief. He has counseled clients with social skill and academic functioning difficulties. Josh has worked with individuals throughout the entire life spectrum including, children, adolescents, adult as well as an older-adult population.  

 

Josh has experience providing comprehensive biopsychosocial and neuropsychological assessments to teenagers through adults.  He has provided Mobile Therapy and has worked as a Behavioral Shaping Consultant with children and adolescents. Since starting his career in the mental health in 2010, Josh has acquired extensive experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavior Therapy (BT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), EMDR, Mindfulness techniques and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time with friends, cooking and activities in nature.
