Doug Clapp

Doug Clapp, Psy.D., LMFT

Dr. Doug Clapp (he/him) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the CBT Center for Anxiety and OCD and seasoned clinician with over a decade of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University. Dr. Clapp trained with experts at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Clapp completed his Predoctoral Residency at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, where he treated anxiety and OCD in both school and medical settings. He has experience treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder, social anxiety, and panic, as well as expertise in treating school avoidance.

 

Dr. Clapp has advanced training in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and Eco-Systemic Family Therapy (ESFT). Given Dr. Clapp’s extensive expertise in family systems, he is particularly skilled in assisting families in navigating high conflict situations. Prior to his Doctoral training, he served as a clinical supervisor at Penn Medicine, where he founded an intensive treatment program for youth and young adults that combined family therapy with CBT and exposure-based interventions.

 

Doug is an experienced and caring therapist who is passionate about improving the life trajectories of youth, families, and adults. He brings empathy, humor, and a tailored approach to each therapy session, so that evidence-based treatments are optimized to address life’s most pressing difficulties. Outside the therapy room, Doug is a proud father, an educator, and an active member of the local community.
