Support Groups

Support Groups

The following are open groups, so members are welcome at any time. All groups are led by a mental health clinician. Members need not be clients of the CBT Center; however, pairing professional therapy with group participation is recommended.

For additional information regarding any of the CBT Center support Groups, please contact Dr. Amy Young at 610-529-1875 or ayoung@cbtcenterforanxiety.

‘GOALS’ SUPPORT GROUP FOR ADULTS WITH OCD
This support group is for adults (ages 18+) with OCD or Obsessive Compulsive-Related Disorders who are looking for support through this difficult process. Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is discussed, as is relapse prevention and motivation strategies. Members are encouraged to identify ERP goals in the group, and to discuss personal experiences and challenges. However, participation is not required, so members are welcome to choose whether or not to speak. Through the group, members also receive professional insight about OCD.

FAMILY OCD SUPPORT GROUP
This support group is for family members and friends of children or adults with OCD or Obsessive Compulsive-Related Disorders. Members receive information regarding OCD and support from other members. We discuss ways to encourage and motivate your loved one in their Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) goals and how to stop participating in rituals.  You will have an opportunity to discuss personal experiences and challenges, as well as receive professional information about OCD.

The ‘Goals’ and Family Support Groups are held at the same time in different rooms so that all family members can meet to learn about OCD, effective treatment and obtain the much-needed support.
